The colloquial first-meeting pattern: 這是 + relationship (+ name) — 這是我弟弟王家文 (this is my younger brother, Wang Jiawen) · 這是我朋友Gloria. The polite reply: 認識你很高興 — and back: 我也很高興認識你.

S + 住在 + place: 我平常住在臺灣 (I usually live in Taiwan) · 我父母住在臺灣 · Mary住在美國. Ask with 哪裡: 你爸爸住在哪裡？ (Where does your father live?)

All three sit exactly where the answer will (Lesson 3’s rule, now the full set): 李老師教什麼？ (What does Teacher Li teach?) · 王小美在哪裡念書？ · 誰想去國家公園玩？ (Who wants to visit a national park?)

想 before a verb makes a wish: S + 想 + V — 我想去迪士尼樂園玩 (I’d like to go to Disneyland) · Mark想去臺灣工作 (Mark would like to go to Taiwan to work) · 我姊姊想去法國玩.

The action verb after the place states the purpose: 我來美國玩 (I came to America to have fun) · 我想去法國念書 (I’d like to go to France to study). 來 (come) and 去 (go) mirror each other — direction relative to the speaker.
