你平常喜歡做什麼

What Do You Usually Like to Do?

One Step Further

🧑‍🏫喜歡不喜歡 — A-not-A, two-syllable verbs

Lesson 4’s A-not-A works for two-syllable verbs by repeating the whole verb: 你喜歡不喜歡運動? (Do you like to exercise?) — same meaning as 你喜歡運動嗎, just more matter-of-fact.

🧑‍🏫還 hái — “in addition”

One person, one more liked activity: repeat the verb after 還 — 我喜歡唱歌,聽音樂和跳舞。我還喜歡看電視 (…and in addition I like watching TV) · 他喜歡跑步,還喜歡打網球.

🧑‍🏫Time + 在 + place + verb

Word order stacks time BEFORE place, both before the verb: S + time + 在 + place + V — 我晚上常常在家看電視 (at night I often watch TV at home) · 王明文上午在公園打網球. Never at the end like English.

🧑‍🏫也 + 都 — adverb order

When both appear, 也 comes before 都, and both sit before any negation: 我們也都喜歡唱歌 (we all like singing too) · 我們也都沒有哥哥 (none of us has older brothers either).

🧑‍🏫可是 kěshì — “but”

可是 joins two contrasting clauses: 我哥哥和我也喜歡唱歌,可是我們都不喜歡跳舞 (my brother and I like singing too, BUT neither of us likes dancing) · 家文週末想去國家公園,可是明文和Gloria都不想去.
